Ram wrestlers 1-3 in opening meets

The Greene County wrestling team went 1-1 in the opening double dual in Van Meter Tuesday, Nov. 28. The Van Meter/Earlham team handled the Rams 56-15 in the first match but the Rams knocked off Ogden in the second, 41-24.

The Rams had just three winners against VM/E: Cayden Gerdes at 138 collected a forfeit; Clint Dennhardt posted a fall in the 182 weight bracket, and Bryce Hoyle took a 5-4 decision at 195.

Greene County had eight winners against Ogden. Dennhardt, Will Hansen (145), and Garrett Tasler (113) each won by fall. Joe Anderson at 285 posted an 11-3 major decision while Braden Gallagher won a 21-10 major decision. Leo Marques (152) and Gage Michaelson (220) won by forfeit. Gerdes posted a 4-0 decision.

In a double-dual at home Nov. 30, Greene County lost both contests to fall to 1-3 on the season. Carroll topped the Rams 48-29 and Winterset won 51-18. Greene County won four matches against the Huskies and five vs the Tigers.

Clint Dennhardt and Brady Stauffer claimed two victories: Dennhardt by technical fall and forfeit while Stauffer’s wins were on a 4-2 decision and forfeit.

Bryce Hoyle and Will Hansen each posted a pin and Colby Kafer won by 7-2 decision. The other wins were forfeits collected by Garrett Tasler and Chance McCollom.
