Premier Breakfast with Santa a big success

An estimated 300 children, parents and grandparents enjoyed Breakfast with Santa Saturday morning at the Greene County Community Center.

Actually, everyone except Mr and Mrs Claus had time for the breakfast buffet, which was served by staff from the Jefferson Hy-Vee. Hy-Vee donated the buffet for children and others could buy breakfast. Hy-Vee also provided bakery cookies at a cookie decorating station.

The Clauses were busy listening to boys’ and girls’ claims of being nice and their hopes for what would be under the Christmas tree Christmas morning. Meythaler Photography offered those special photos with Santa at a small town price.

Keyboard master Rick Morain and carolers from Greene County High School provided music, Kelsey Ostendorf and volunteers helped with a Christmas craft, and Jefferson park and recreation director Vicky Lautner read a Christmas story in the Reading Room.

JPRD assistant director Sean Ostendorf, who spearheaded the event, said afterward, “That was so much fun, we’ll just have to do it again next year.”
