FFA members to national convention

The Greene County FFA officers traveled to the 90th national FFA convention and expo in Indianapolis, IN, Oct. 25th-28.

At the convention students heard keynote speaker Laila Ali who inspired them with motivational stories from her own life and encouraged them to reach for their full potential. At the expo officers took part in leadership workshops and met FFA members from around the U.S.

The students also took part in a variety of agricultural tours. The first agricultural tour was at Fair Oaks Farm in Fair Oaks, IN. There they saw commercial pig production and dairy cow production. Next, they visited Ozark Fisheries in Martinsville, IN, where they saw aquaculture production for ornamental koi and goldfish. Later, they traveled to Marengo, IN, to tour the underground Marengo caverns, a well-known national landmark. Finally, traveling home they stopped in Peoria, IL, to see the Caterpillar visitor center and to learn about agricultural manufacturing.

Officers at the national convention and expo were (from left) Gwen Black, Kara Reed, Ben Bravard, CJ Muir, Onica Delp, Emily Finch and Abbie Sparks.
