Rams compete in HOIAC cross country meet

The Rams placed sixth among girls teams and eighth among boys team at the Heart of Iowa conference cross country meet at the Jewell Country Club Oct. 9.

The girls were without Bailey Cunningham, their lead runner, due to injury. Senior Haley Hall was the first Ram to finish with a time of 22:23 and in 17th place. Kassie Lamoureux was next in 23:20, good for 36th place. Conner Allender was in 46th place in24:16, Ashlee Harmeyer was 53rd in 24:36, Regan Lamoureux was 64th in 25:18, Izzy Bravard was 70th in 25:48, and Tieryn Tucker was 71st, also in 25:48. Other runners who finished the race but whose placements did not figure into the team score were Janelle Brophy, Emily Hofer, Emily Bettey and Kirsten Lamoureux.

North Polk claimed the conference title with 28 points. Other team scores were Gilbert 31, PCM 109, Roland-Story 117, Nevada 119, Greene County 151, South Hamilton 172, and Saydel 238.

Freshman Luis Valazco finished first for the Ram boys with a time of 20:15, putting him in 65th place in the race. Nic Killion was next in 20:59 and in 77th place. Other runners were Brian Hardaway, 21: 11 and 84th place; Josh Ewalt, 24:43 in 152nd place; Leo Mizok, 26:03 in 161st place; Trevor Lebeck, 26:05 in 162nd place; and Anthony Tolsdorf, 27;06 in 169th place.

Gilbert claimed the conference title on the boys side. Team scores were Gilbert 23, Nevada 65, South Hamilton 69, R-S 104, North Polk 126, Saydel 163, PCM 195, and Greene County 244.
