Since interest has increased in home brewing beer, more people in Iowa are talking about hops, one of the more “specialized” ingredients in beer.

Barb Brooker shared a post from her blog, Barb and Butch’s Big Adventure, that includes a picture of hops growing along the Raccoon River Valley Trail south of Jefferson between the trestle bridge and Winkleman Switch.

Hops can grow as tall as 18 feet, learned those who attended the inaugural  Greene Living, aka 4-H for Grown-ups, earlier this fall.
