Middle school sports roundup

The eighth grade Ram volleyball team hosted Gilbert Sept. 25 at the Greene County Community Center in Jefferson. The Rams lost all seven games.

Game scores were A squad, 6-21, 13-21, 6-21; B squad 13-21, 14-21; and C squad 20-22, 2-22.

Coach Teresa Green reports the top servers were Addi Adcock at six for seven with one ace; Kaydi Newby at five for six with one ace; Trista Gierstorf at eight for 10 with two aces; Lucy Dudley at four for five with one ace; and Afton Funcke at eight for 10.

“We struggled with our serving and serve receive tonight which kept us from running our offense,” the coach said.

The seventh grade team also lost to Gilbert. Top servers were Ashlynn Hinners and Paige Teeples.

Coach Betsy Wiederin did not provide more information.

The middle school cross country team ran in the Leon Fox Invitational meet in Perry Sept. 28. Coach Mary Pedersen reports eight runners set personal records and season best times.

The boys placed second, with three runners in the top 10 and five in the top 20. Dakota Mobley placed third in 12:40. Logan Woodruff placed ninth in 13:11 and Ethan Frederick placed 10th in 13:12. Lucas Jablonski was 12th in 13:16 and Jose Velazco was 19th in 14:09. Other runners who finished the race were Jayden Carstensen, Jax Carstensen, Parker Lehman, Cade Silbaugh and Ethan Larson.
