Greene County district court, week ending Sept. 28

In Greene County district court Robert Alan Fry, 54, of Jefferson was sentenced Sept. 25 to five years in prison after he changed his plea to guilty to burglary- third degree. The prison term was suspended and he was placed on probation for two years. He was fined $750 with a $262.50 surcharge; both were suspended. He must pay a $125 Law Enforcement Initiative surcharge, victim restitution and restitution for his court appointed attorney’s fees to be determined, and $140 court costs. Daryle Dewayne Snyder Jr, 49, of Muscatine was sentenced to five years in prison after he changed his plea to guilty to a charge of theft- second degree. The prison term was suspended and he was placed on probation for three years. He was fined $750 with a $262.50 surcharge; both were suspended. Snyder must pay $1,000 victim restitution, a $125 LEI surcharge and $180 court costs. A charge of ongoing criminal conduct was dismissed. (Sentencing: McCarville)

Robin Kay Pickell, 60, of Luther was sentenced to one year in jail after she pleaded guilty to a charge of operating while intoxicated- first offense, amended from OWI- second offense. All but two days of the jail time was suspended. Pickell was fined $1,250 with a $437.50 surcharge and a $10 surcharge for drug abuse resistance education (DARE). She was determined to be unable to pay restitution for her court appointed attorney’s fees. Court costs were $164.50. (Sentencing: McCarville)

Ryan James Brown, 45, of Jefferson was sentenced to one year in jail after he changed his plea to guilty to a charge of driving while license barred. All but 10 days of the jail time was suspended and Brown was placed on probation for one year. He was fined $625 with a $218.75 surcharge, and a $125 LEI surcharge. He must pay $60 restitution for his court appointed attorney’s fees and $100 court costs. (Sentencing: McCarville)

Persons pleaded not guilty at arraignments as follows: Rodney J. Blackmon, 22, of Grand Junction, unlawful possession of prescription drugs; Dray Rivera, 27, of Jefferson, burglary- third degree (in two separate cases) and in another case, harassment- second degree; Craigg Michael Smith, 40, of Jefferson, assault on person in certain occupations; Mikael Goran Winblad, 36, of Scranton, child endangerment; Christopher David Spaulding, 40, of Jefferson, possession of marijuana- third or subsequent offense; Tunney James Merrill, 18, of Mapleton, possession of marijuana- second offense, and carrying weapons; and Jake John Ball, 34, of Jefferson, unlawful possession of prescription drug (three counts), burglary- third degree (three counts), and ongoing criminal conduct. A trial date of Oct. 31 was set for Rivera, and of Dec. 5 for all other defendants.

Cases were initiated in district court during the week ending Sept. 28 as follows: Brett Michael Roberts, 24, of Grand Junction, driving while license barred; and James Harris, 30, of Jefferson, domestic abuse assault causing injury or mental illness.
