Schools tell homecoming plans

Homecoming court announced

Homecoming at Greene County High School is slated for Friday, Sept. 29, with the student council planning fun activities on a theme “Home Sweet Homecoming” all next week.

The homecoming court was announced Wednesday morning. The king and queen will be crowned following the parade next Friday afternoon.

The homecoming court includes (front, from left) Emily Finch, Gwen Black, Megan Durbin, Sydney Schiltz and Hailey Hall; and (back, from left) Ben Bravard, Joe Towers, Wade Adcock, Garrett Swain and Jordan Patterson.

Paton-Churdan is celebrating homecoming, too, with activities planned for Sunday, Sept. 24. A powder puff football game starts the fun at 4 pm, with a tailgate party from 5 to 6 and coronation at 6 pm.

The Greene County cheerleaders will hold a jersey auction Wednesday, Sept. 27, at 6:30 pm at the Greene County fairgrounds, with a bonfire following the auction.

Area organizations and businesses are invited to be part of the homecoming parade Sept. 29 at 2 pm. The parade will line up at the high school at 1 pm. The parade route is north on Chestnut St to State St, and then around the courthouse square.

A community pep rally and coronation of the homecoming king and queen will take place on the south side of the courthouse after the parade.
Persons who want more information about the parade can contact Deb Marquardt at the high school at 515-386-2188.

The Greene County Rams will host the Boone Toreadors in the homecoming football game, with the varsity kickoff at 7:30. The pre-game ceremonies will include an honor guard composed of veterans and emergency responders from the entire county.

High school students are invited to a parking lot party in the student parking lot at the school following the game until 11:45 pm.
