The public is invited to what MidAmerican Energy is calling a “community celebration” Saturday, Sept. 16, at one of the wind turbine sites in the Beaver Creek wind farm.

Billed as a “family event,” attendees will learn about wind energy and the construction of the Beaver Creek wind farm, and see construction equipment and components of a turbine.  A free lunch and giveaways will be provided, and there will be drawings for free prizes.

All those who attend are asked to wear closed-toe shoes to the construction site.

The celebration is slated for 11 am to 1 pm and will be held at turbine site 55 – which is between A and B Ave (Boone County) north of 170th St. From Jefferson, use Highway 144 north of Grand Junction, and then turn east (right) on 170th St. Follow the signs on 170th St.
