Middle school volleyball, cross country

The Greene County eighth grade volleyball team opened its season Sept. 5 hosing Southeast Valley for two matches. The Rams won two games and lost four games.

Game scores in the A match were 11-21, 9-21, 9-21. Game scores in the B match were 21-19, 6-21, 21-19.

“The Rams are running a 5-1 offense and are learning their rotations in the different positions. In the two games that we won, we did a much better job of serving,” said coach Teresa Green.

The Rams play Monday, Sept. 11, at Gilbert.

The middle school cross country teams ran in the Ram Invitational Thursday, Sept. 7, at Spring Lake. The Ram boys won in the team race; the girls did not have enough runners for a team score.

On the  boys team Dakota Mobley paced the boys with third place  in 13:01. Lucas Jablonski was seventh in 13:22, Ethan Fredrick was 15th in 14:02, Logan Woodruff was 19th at 14:13, Jose Velazco was 45th in 15:30 and Jayden Carstensen was 54th in 15:59. Other runners were Parker Lehman, Chad Maston, Cade Silbaugh and Jax Carstensen.

Team scores were Greene County 63, Denison 79, West Marshall 86, Nevada 89, South Hamilton 121, West Central Valley 156, Ogden 185, IKM-Manning 193, Southest Valley 222, and Kuemper Catholic 237.

In the girls race Olivia Shannon was 25th with a time of 16:43. Madison Kinsey finished 72nd in 25:20.

For Paton-Churdan, Bailey Anderson finished 46th with a time of 17:57. Autumn Consier placed 57th in 19:14.

Neither Greene County nor Paton-Chudan had enough runners for a team score. Team scores were Panorama 57, Nevada 64, West Marshall 77, South Hamilton 92, Denison 97, and Perry 99.
