JPD gives 150 warnings, 23 tickets during special enforcement

The Jefferson police department conducted a special Traffic Enforcement Project (sTEP) from Aug. 18 through Sept. 9. Officers wrote 23 citations and gave 150 warnings during that time.

Citations were written as follows: speed, six; driving while privileges are suspended or revoked, four; seat belt violation, three; stop sign/light violation, three; no proof of insurance, two; registration, two; and child restraint, .02 alcohol violation and dark windows, one each.

Warnings were given as follows: equipment violations, 37; registration, 27; no proof of insurance, 20; seat belt, 19; speed, 19; stop sign/light, 12; other traffic violations, 12; operating while intoxicated, two; and child restraint and dark windows, one each.
Officers investigated two accidents and served two arrest warrants during that time period as well.
