Iowa Red Cross volunteers deployed in advance of Hurricane Harvey

American Red Cross disaster responders from across Iowa will depart Saturday morning in anticipation of significant destruction of homes and displacement of residents in the path of Hurricane Harvey.

As of Friday evening, 10 Red Cross volunteers are being deployed and another four are on standby awaiting assignments. Three emergency response vehicles (ERVs), along with volunteers trained in logistics, planning, sheltering and disaster assessment are making the trip.

All Red Cross disaster assistance is free, made possible by voluntary donations of time and money. Donations can be made online at www.redcross.org/donate, or by calling 1-800-REDCROSS. Donations can also be sent in care of the Iowa Region,  2116 Grand Ave, Des Moines, IA  50312.
