Park dedication, community hog roast in Scranton Saturday

Volunteers are working this week to complete the playground at the new Scranton School Memorial Park in time for a dedication ceremony this Saturday, Aug. 19, at 4 pm. The park is located at 900 Eagle St, east of the community center.

The public is invited to see a display of the results of the Community Vision effort in the community center from 4:30 to 6 pm. The ideas submitted were included on large drawing boards that illustrates what can be done to make the Scranton community more appealing to residents and visitors.

The evening will conclude with a community potluck meal from 5 to 6 pm. A hog is being roasted; will be served with other side dishes. Everyone is invited to join in the friendship and fellowship of the meal. If guests want to bring a dish to share, they are welcome to, but it is not necessary. Tableware and drinks will be furnished.
