Construction of a new bridge on County Road E-39 (210th St) near Ralston, a bridge county engineer Wade Weiss described as “a horrible structure,” will begin soon.

The county supervisors on Monday approved the resolution to close the road from Highway 30 to B Ave. Murphy Heavy Contracting of Anita has 50 working days to complete the project once work begins. Weiss said the road will not be closed until he has a definite start date.

The posted detour uses Highway 30 south and east of the closure and then County Road N-65 (E Ave) a mile north back to the junction with E-39.

According to Weiss, the bridge “should never have been driven over with loads.”
The bridge is the second of three bridges to be worked on this construction season. Work on the Hyde Park bridge on N-65 in Kendrick Township is nearly finished. Work on a bridge on E-57 east of K Ave in Greenbrier Township is expected to begin in October.
