JPD tells numbers from July 1-4 sTEP

Jefferson police officers wrote 12 citations and issued 79 warnings during a special Traffic Enforcement Project (sTEP) July 1-4.

Citations were issued as follows: driving while license suspended or revoked, three; speed, three; seat belt, two; registration, two; .02 alcohol violation, one; and other traffic violation, one.

Warnings were issued as follows: speed, 14; registration, 13; no proof of insurance, 13; seat belt, seven; equipment, seven; operating while intoxicated, two; stop sign/traffic violation, two; .02 alcohol violation, one; and other traffic violations, 20.

Officers investigated one accident, did one canine search, and served two arrest warrants during that time.
