Free tae kwon do, coed softball, mini cheer offered

Shin’s Tae Kwon Do Academy is offering a July session of free tae kwon do classes at the Greene County Community Center.

The classes are open to all students ages 7-16 and will be Sundays July 9, 16, 23 and 30 from 2 to 3:30 pm.

Tae kwon do benefits participants physically and mentally with increased strength, self-discipline, balance and agility. The class can also help with self-confidence and self-defense.

Shin’s Academy teaches year-round at the community center and is offering the free session as a service to the community.

The coed softball season starts play the week of July 11 with games on Tuesdays and Thursdays during the regular season.  After the regular season, standings will seed a championship tournament with the winner receiving a traveling trophy.

A mandatory captain’s meeting will be held Thursday, July 6, at 5:30 pm at the community center to review rules and complete rosters. Schedules will be released the next day.

A summer mini cheerleading camp is salted for Tuesday, July 11, from 2 to 5:30 pm at the community center. Participants will put on a performance for friends and family at the end of camp.

Mini cheer camp is for girls and boys in pre-K through 5th grade (fall grades). The camp will be coached by former Ram cheerleaders Stephanie Morlan and Kami Badger.
