Bell Tower Festival June 9-10

Includes premier performance and dedication of new carillon

The steering committee for the 37th annual Bell Tower Festival is in the final stages of planning, as this year’s festival, “Back to the Festival,” is slated for June 9-10.

The opening ceremony will be memorable this year as it will include the dedication of the four-octave carillon at the festival’s centerpiece, the Mahanay Memorial Carillon Tower. Also, the observation deck at the top of the top of the tower will be dedicated as the Paul Nally Observation Deck.

Along with those dedications, the Bell Tower of Fame Award will be presented.

The open ceremony will be begin at 6:30 pm on the plaza stage east of the tower. It will be preceded by the first live concert from the tower at 6:15. Rick Morain will have the honor of being the first to play the carillon.

The Greene County Singers will sing the National Anthem to start the ceremony. Bell Tower Festival chairs will recognize the sponsors who are making the festival possible, followed by the dedications and the Bell Tower of Fame presentation.

In an effort of centralizing festival activities, the barbecue will be served on Lincoln Way just south of the plaza stage. The Greene County Education Association will serve ribeye steaks and hamburgers as a fundraiser for scholarships for students.
