Ram girls sixth at Heart of Iowa meet

The Greene County girls track team finished sixth at the Heart of Iowa Conference meet in Baxter Tuesday, May 2. They were fourth at the North Polk Comet Invite at Alleman on Thursday, May 4. 

Greene County girls and boys will compete at Denison-Schleswig on Thursday, May 11, to qualify for state competition. Field events start at 4 pm. They will compete against Atlantic, Carroll, Denison-Schleswig, Glenwood, Harlan, Perry and Sergeant Bluff-Luton. (The Girls Athletic Union website incorrectly listed May 10 as the date for the competition.)

HOIC meet: The Rams had only one gold medal event in the tough field of competition. Megan Durbin won the high jump with a personal record leap this season of 5’ 7”. The Rams attained five personal records and had three season bests.

  • 200 meters – Olivia Hansen 27.06, second; Melanie Doran 28.73, eighth
  • 1500 meters – Haley Hall 5:33.02, seventh
  • 3000 meters – Haley Hall 12:10.69, seventh
  • 100-meter hurdles – Izzy Bravard 18.19, eighth

Comet Invitational: Competing against many of the same competitors as the HOIC meet, the Rams finished fourth in team points. Although there were no gold medals for the Rams at the Comet Invite, Megan Durbin ran her season best time in the 200 meters and Haley Hall gave her best effort for a personal record in the 800 meters.
