The Greene Group forming for ‘younger’ residents

A new group for young professionals, leaders, entrepreneurs and community members, The Greene Group, will host a kick-off event Thursday, May 11, from 5 to 7 pm at Doc’s Stadium on the east side of the courthouse square in Jefferson.

“Greene” in The Greene Group’s name is an acronym for Growing Relationships by Engaging Educational and Networking Events. The logo was designed by Megan Vaughan of Prolific Banana.

The mission of The Greene Group is to unite young professionals, leaders, entrepreneurs, and community members who have a desire to build relationships and to enhance their personal and professional development.

The Greene Group will be organized under the umbrella of Jefferson Matters: Main Street but membership is open to anyone in or around Greene County.  The annual dues will be $25 running on a calendar year.  Persons who join before or at the May 11 kick-off night will pay dues of only $20. Employers who would like to offer membership to this organization as a benefit to their employees can do so at a reduced cost.

Revenue from dues will be used to host speakers for personal and professional development and to host member events.  The board is currently working on scheduling topics for a lunch-and-learn series, opportunities for social networking, as well as group opportunities.  This is a list of the upcoming scheduled events so far:

  • Kick-off – Thursday, May 11th, 5-7pm at Doc’s Stadium, Jefferson
  • June 20, 5-7pm – Coach’s Corner at Wild Rose Casino, Jefferson
  • July 18,  5-7pm – Ferg’s, Grand Junction
  • Aug. 15, 5-7pm – 209 Main, Paton
  • Sept. 19, 5-7pm – Family event at Deal’s Orchard

This May 11 kick-off event will be a night for current board members to share about The Greene Group and the vision for the group. Membership information available, dues will be accepted from those wanting to take advantage of the reduced rate, and there will be chances to network.
