Events, entertainment told for Bell Tower Festival

Planning for the 37th annual Bell Tower Festival, June 9-11, is well under way, reports festival co-chairs Brandon Gustoff and Delaney Gibson.

“The 2017 festival, themed ‘Back to the Festival,’ has something for everyone. With a bit of new entertainment and events, and some old favorites, this year’s festival is shaping up to be one of the best,” Gustoff said.

This year’s festival has a varied line-up of entertainment for festival-goers. In the Beverage Garden this year the “Back 9”, with band leader Micah Destival, will perform Friday evening, times to be announced. On Saturday evening Brad Morgan starts off the evening of entertainment, beginning at 7 pm. Top-notch entertainment continues as the “Ladies of the ‘80s” show band takes the stage at 8:30 for the rest of the evening.

The steering committee is using two vendors for the Beverage Garden this year, so Budweiser and Miller products will be available, all ice-cold.

Becky Greiner, chair for Plaza Stage entertainment, has coordinated entertainment Friday evening as well as Saturday throughout the day, featuring magician David Casas on Plaza Stage and in the Bell Tower Festival parade. Other entertainment for Plaza Stage is Greene County Singers, Town and Country Band, Prairie Blue Creative Arts dance studio, The Rhythm Room Dance Center, Elite Tumbling Team, and much more.

The Bill Riley Talent Show, a local qualifying contest for the state-wide Iowa State Fair show, will begin at 5 pm on the Plaza Stage. Tori Riley is coordinating this year’s contest. Watch for more information about performing in the show.

The Friday evening Bell Tower Festival barbecue will feature beef this year, with ribeye steaks and burgers on the menu. The barbecue will be held outdoors downtown this year so diners can enjoy the entertainment and watch the opening ceremonies. A highlight of the opening ceremonies will be the presentation of the Bell Tower of Fame Award

Children will enjoy inflatables and games for all ages by Bounce Around Inflatables of Sioux Falls, SD.

As events and programs are finalized more information will become available. Visit www.belltowerfestival.org, email the Greene County Chamber of Commerce at chamber@greenecountyiowa.com, or call the Chamber office at 515-386-2155.
