Voters in the Greene County Community School District will go to the polls on Tuesday, March 14, to elect a director to fill a vacancy on the board of education. The successful candidate will fill the remainder of the term which expires in September 2019.
The vacancy was created by the resignation of Ashley Johnston. Two candidates are on the ballot: Steve Fisher of Grand Junction and Matt Wetrich of Jefferson.
The polls will be open from noon until 8 pm. Polling places are in the south assembly room of the Greene County courthouse in Jefferson for the Jefferson precinct; Scranton city hall / community room for the Scranton precinct; and St Brigid Parish Center in Grand Junction for the Grand Junction and Rippey precincts.
The regular school board election will be held in September. At that time, the seats held by Teresa Hagen, David Ohrt and Michael Dennhardt will be on the ballot.
