Rippey school memorial bricks: The deadline for ordering Rippey school memorial bricks will be Wednesday, March 1.  Ten bricks are the minimum number that can be ordered. Several people have ordered a brick as a memory for someone special in their life, or to show respect and gratitude for that deserving person. For some it was a relative, or a teacher, or a good friend.

The cost is $50 per brick, and the checks may be sent to the Friends of Rippey, Box 52, Rippey, Iowa.  The forms are available at the church or the library, or may be down loaded from the Facebook page, “Remembering the Rippey School” and the Rippey News web page at http://rippeynews.org.

Rippey public library:  Librarian Shawneene Kenan; phone: 515.436.7714; website: www.rippey.lib.ia.us; E-mail: rippeyli@windstream.net. HOURS: Monday 1-6 pm; Tuesday 2-6 pm; Wednesday 3-6 pm; Thursday 2-7 pm; Friday 3-6 pm.

The library has the CD and disc cleaning machine now until the end of the month. The cost is $1 for DVDs and $2 for game discs. This machine was purchased several years ago by the Greene County Library Association for the use of all six libraries in the county. The funds were provided by the Greene County supervisors to the association for collaborative events, projects, and shared equipment that their local budgets wouldn’t cover.  The machine is available at all six libraries on a rotating schedule.  Rippey folks can use it during library hours.

On Friday, Feb. 10, we decorated  Valentine cookies and we had a SWEET time.  We made hanging bird seed cakes last Wednesday.  There is an activity every week and all are encouraged to visit the library to see what’s happening.  The Coffee and Bingo group met on Thursday for its monthly gathering. This is sponsored by the Rippey Lions Club, with Myron and Maralynn Rinker in charge.  Everyone is welcome to attend.

Mary Cunningham had a wonderful day visiting in the home of her granddaughter, Jennifer Eiteman, in Perry on Sunday, Feb. 19.  The occasion was to celebrate the 16th birthday of Delaney Eietman. There were 16 family members in attendance to help Delaney celebrate this special birthday. The day was filled with good food, visiting, and lots of laughter.  Mary’s favorite part was observing her family enjoy the happy day, especially her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.  It isn’t often they can find the time to get together at the same time and place, so it was a special day for her, too.
