Special Greene Co school board meeting today

The Greene County Schools board of education will hold a special meeting today to hold a public  hearing on the addition and renovation to the elementary school. The board will then consider and approve bids for the project.

The project will add four classrooms so the building can accommodate all students in grades pre-kindergarten through fourth. It will be paid for with physical plant and equipment levy (PPEL) funds. There will be no tax increase for the project.

The board plans for construction to begin next month to assure the addition is completed for the start of the new school year next August.

The intermediate school in Grand Junction, which now has students grades 4-6, will be closed. Students in grades 5-6 will attend the middle school.

The board will also consider a hiring.

The meeting will start at 5:15 pm and will be held at the administrative building, 204 W. Madison St, in Jefferson.
