P-C girls lose, boys win in Woodbine

The Paton-Churdan girls basketball team, playing with a depleted roster and without lead scorer Jenna Beyers, lost Monday to the Woodbine Tigers in Woodbine, 54-17.

The Rockets scored just two points in the first quarter were down 33-9 at halftime. They scored eight points in the third quarter and no points in the fourth quarter.

Grace Geisler scored 13 of the Rockets’ points. Megan Carey and Kyla Beyers scored two points each.

The Rockets are now 2-16 on the season while the Tigers are 8-12.

The P-C boys won 53-38 after trailing 25-20 at halftime. The Rockets put up 17 points to the Tigers’ five in the third quarter, and again outscored the Tigers 16 to eight in the fourth quarter.

Joe Towers scored 24 points, including two 3-point baskets,  and Jake Berns scored 17 points with one 3-point basket. Charlie Minnehan scored eight and Tyler Miller and Clayton Smith added two points each.

Paton-Churdan shot at 45 percent from the floor and 83 percent at the free throw line.
