The Scranton sesquicentennial committee is up and running. Plans are being made to celebrate the 150th birthday of Scranton on June 29, 2019.

The committee is conducting a logo contest. All entries will be reviewed and prizes awarded this summer. Entries should be submitted by June 30, 2017.

You do not have to be local to enter. Create a logo for the sesquicentennial and enter via the email noted below. Age bracket prizes will be given: for children under 10 years of age; young adults 10-20 years and adults over 20 years at the time of submission. There will be winners in each age bracket and an overall winner that will be the official logo.

More than one entry per person will be allowed.

For more information or to submit an entry email scrantonsesqui2019@gmail.com.

Also, the committee has cancelled a Valentine spaghetti supper slated for Feb. 4.

The first event will be a potato bar and white elephant silent auction on Sunday, March 5.

The committee is looking for items that are not truly “white elephant,” but would be “prized” by someone else. Persons who have something that fits that description are asked to email scrantonsesqui2019@gmail.com with a photo of the item. The committee will respond with logistics if the treasure will be appropriate for the auction.
