Scranton council applies for housing rehab project

The Scranton city council held a public hearing at its Dec. 13 meeting in regards to an application for a Community Development Block Grant for funds for an owner-occupied housing rehabilitation program. Karla Janning with Region XII Council of Governments provided details on the project, funding sources, requested amounts and other information.

Jan Christian asked the Council to consider allowing golf cart access to the Library.

Dawn Rudolph gave the monthly community center report including rentals, grant work, hoop project, signage, dodgeball donations and window bricking. She also mentioned that Greene County plans to build a new shop in Scranton.

The council voted unanimously to re-award the window bricking project at the Community Center to Dave Wolf with Precision Masonry for the same price as the original project award ($3,131).

Bob Ausberger represented the Iowa Lincoln Highway Association, visiting with the Council on signage to be provided in Scranton from a grant.

The council voted unanimously to become a member of and to approve the North Raccoon River watershed Management Coalition 28E Agreement.

A public hearing was scheduled for 6 pm on Jan. 10 for a budget amendment.
