Deadline nearing for Grow Greene grant applications

The Grow Greene County Gaming Corporation reminds organizations that the deadline for applications for competitive grants is Jan. 31.

The competitive grant application was released Oct. 1. Competitive grants are grants for which an application is required. They will be compared to other requests and financed based on board criteria and funds available. Competitive grants will be awarded by the Grow Greene County board once per year in the spring.

Grow Greene County awards competitive grants of $35,000 and more. If an organization is applying for less than $35,000, it should apply for grants through the Greene County Community Foundation. Funding for organizations in the contiguous counties will go through their own county’s community foundation.

Organizations wishing to apply for Grow Greene County funding will find all the necessary documents on the Grow Greene County website: www.growgreenecounty.org. The deadline for submitting an application is Jan. 31. Programs will receive notification the first week of April.

In 2016 the Grow Greene board of directors awarded competitive grants to the Churdan public library, the Bell Tower Community Foundation, the Jefferson fire department, Genesis Development and the Greene County conservation board.
