Rockets lose two at home vs Glidden-Ralston

The Paton-Churdan Rockets hosted the Glidden-Ralston Wildcats for basketball Tuesday and lost both games.

Final score in the girls game was 67-24. Jenna Beyers led her team in scoring with 10 points. Grace Geisler and Megan Carey each scored six points and each had a 3-point basket. Briana Jewett had two points.

Beyers led in rebounds with eight.

The Rockets turned the ball over 42 times; the Wildcats had 15 turnovers for the game.

Coach Tom Kennedy’s Rockets are 0-5 overall and in the Rolling Valley Activities Conference while the Wildcats are 5-1.

The boys are 2-2 overall and in the Rolling Valley after losing 59-43 to the Wildcats. The Wildcats are 3-3 in the conference.

The Rockets scored first but the Wildcats dominated, taking a 20-9 lead after one quarter and stretching it to 34-19 at the intermission. The Rockets cut the deficit to 11 points with two minutes to play in the third quarter, but that’s as close as they got.

Junior Jake Berns led the Rockets in scoring with 14 points including one 3-point shot. Junior Charlie Minnehan had 11 points and senior Chase Juergensen had 10 points including a 3-pointer. Senior Trevor Bundt scored six points and junior Joe Towers made two.

Wins for the Rockets have come at home against West Harrison, 52-41, and against CAM, 43-40. Losses were away against Exira/ Elk Horn-Kimballton, 41-61, and against Charter Oak-Ute, 52-56. Coach is Chris Stimson.

 

The team made 26 of 43 2-point shots and four of 18 3-point shots for 49 percent shooting. The girls made three of four free throws for 75 percent.
