Paton-Churdan girls fall to Charter Oak-Ute in Friday night hoops

The Paton-Churdan girls basketball team is 0-4 on the season after a 36-46 loss to Charter Oak-Ute in Charter Oak Dec. 10.

The Rockets’ 36 points is above their season average of 28.5 points per game.

The Rockets fell behind the Lady Bobcats in the first quarter, 15-5, and that was the margin throughout the game. Both teams scored nine points in the second quarter and had big third quarters at 22 points each. Neither team scored in the fourth quarter.

Coach Tom Kennedy reports his team was 14 of 41 from 2-point range and one of 9 from 3-point range for 30 percent shooting. The Rockets made five of eight free throws fort 63 percent.

Sophomore Jenna Beyers led the team in scoring with 16 points including a 3-pointer and four of four at the free throw line. Beyers also led the team in rebounds with nine and in assists with four.

Sophomore Megan Carey scored nine points and had three assists. Junior Grace Geisler scored five points, sophomore Ty Smith scored four and sophomore Briana Jewett scored two.

The Rockets host Glidden-Ralston Tuesday.
