Tradition important in Harrington home

Among the four homes on the Jefferson Garden Club’s Tour of Homes is the spacious home of Gina and Tom Harrington on S. Wilson. The home was built in the early 1900s. A recent renovation carefully preserved the oak interiors and gray stucco exterior.

A painting Gina did of her mother, Mary Coon, hangs in the kitchen and is now decorated for the holidays with family Christmas stockings made from an old family quilt.

Pictured is Gina in front of the painting. In her hands is a braided coffee cake, a recipe from her mother and a family Christmas tradition.

The Tour of Homes, themed “Christmas Collections,” will be Saturday, Dec. 3, from 12 to 4 pm.

Tickets are available from Garden Club members and at Home State Bank, Peoples Trust & Savings Bank and The Printer’s Box. On the day of the tour, tickets may be purchased at The Printer’s Box and in the Greene County courthouse rotunda, where the club will offer refreshments and display holiday collections.
