For more than 50 years, volunteers have canvassed the Scranton and Kendrick communities soliciting donations for the S-K United Charity Fund. Local residents were asked to give donations which were then doled out to the various organizations.

This year there will be no United Charity drive. Volunteers have announced a reorganization of the group and the decision was made to take a year off.

This fund drive was the only request for many of the organizations and they relied on that money. Therefore, the United Charities ask that local residents still contribute by sending donations directly to the various groups.

Last year’s list of charities included local organizations including: Greene County Food Pantry, Greene County Historical Society, Boys and Girls Little League, Local Emergency / Disaster funds, Scranton Betterment Committee, Scranton Community Center, Scranton congregate meals, Scranton fire department and Scranton Public Library Foundation.
