Donation to Freedom Rock Park honors Gen Harjehausen

The effort to complete Greene County’s Freedom Rock Park got a boost from the family of the late Gen Arnie Harjehausen.

Prior to the unveiling of the rock last month, Katie and Guy Richardson presented a check for $1,000 to the project in memory of Katie’s father, Gen Harjehausen on behalf of themselves and Katie’s siblings – Ed and Sue Harjehausen, Judy Shaffer and JoEtta Snow.

Brig Gen Arnold Harjehausen, IA-ARNG, served 20 years in the U.S. Army and then another 20 in the Iowa Air National Guard. He was a World War Two veteran, serving in the European theatre with the 125th Cavalry Reconnaissance Squadron.

He passed away in Jefferson in 2012. He is buried in the Jefferson Municipal Cemetery.
