Daisy awardGreene County Medical Center will  honor its sixth DAISY Award winner on Wednesday, Nov. 16, at 10 am in the education center classroom.

Nominees being recognized at the award ceremony are long term care nurses Carol Christensen and Maria Bretey, case manager Allie Hamilton, and acute nurse Jodi Schroeder.

The internationally-known DAISY Award has been used to recognize thousands of “extraordinary nurses” for exceptional patient care for the past 15 years. Over 1,700 medical facilities worldwide honor nurses with the DAISY Award.

Chief nurse executive Katie Heldt noted that “It is rewarding to see nurses recognized for the great work they do every day, especially when it comes from patients, family members or caregivers. I encourage these folks to nominate the nurse who took such good care of them or their loved one.”

The medical center began “DAISY” Award ceremonies in 2014. Those who have been honored to date include, Jenny Taylor, director of clinical services; Laine Custer, public health nurse; Lori Harrah, director of Long Term Care; Desiree Monaghan, acute nursing manager; and most recently, last spring, Sarah Borgeson, public health nurse.

Nominations can be made throughout the year, with winners announced twice a year. Nomination forms and submission boxes are located throughout the medical center or a nomination form is also available online at gcmchealth.com.

Nominations can be made by patients, their family members, caretakers, community members and co-workers.
