Chamber invites all to chip in on premium auction

ChamberLogo-blue croppedThe Greene County Chamber of Commerce invites area residents to join its effort to celebrate the success of Greene County 4-H and FFA members at the Greene County Fair.

The Chamber’s food and ag committee, as it has in the past several years, will bid at the Livestock and Achievement Auction the last day of the fair, Monday, July 18.

In recent years, Chamber members have contributed about $2,000 for auction premiums. The premiums youngsters receive not only help offset the cost of their fair exhibits, but they also encourage 4-H and FFA members to continue in those worthwhile programs.

This year the Chamber is extending the opportunity to contribute to the fair premium fund to all area residents. “There are so many people who are former 4-H members or who have special memories of the County Fair. Helping make the premium auction a good experience is a way to continue the traditions for this generation of young people,” said Cail Calder, co-chair of the Chamber’s food and ag committee.

The Chamber will welcome contributions to the fair premium fund in any amount. Suggested sponsorship levels for Chamber members are: Blue Ribbon, $75; Champion, $100; Grand Champion, $250; and Supreme Champion, $500.

Checks payable to the Greene County Chamber of Commerce should be dropped off or mailed to the Chamber at 220 N. Chestnut St, Jefferson, IA 50129, by July 8. Please put “Fair premium” in the memo line. All contributors will be publicly acknowledged.
