Rippey man killed in ATV crash in Rippey

A Rippey man was killed Wednesday afternoon driving an ATV on a Rippey city street.

The accident occurred at 2:55 pm. According to the Iowa State Patrol, Keith Lavern Devilbiss, 78, of Rippey was westbound on Howard St driving a 2007 Honda 300 ATV.

Nicholas Carter Rice, 18, also of Rippey was southbound on Second St driving a 2005 Ford F150 pickup truck. As the vehicles approached the uncontrolled intersection of Howard and Second Streets, Devilbiss failed to yield to the vehicle on the right. His ATV struck the front driver’s side of Rice’s truck.

Devilbiss was flipped onto the windshield of the pickup truck and then rolled onto the street. He was pronounced dead at the scene.

The Iowa State Patrol was assisted by the Greene County sheriff’s office. Greene County Emergency Medical Services and Rippey first responders.
