GC Rams run at Gilbert, North Polk

Greene County girls and boys teams competed in the Heart of Iowa Conference track meet in Gilbert on Tuesday, May 3. They also took part in the North Polk Comet Invitational Coed meet on Thursday.

HOIC track meet: The Ram girls finished fifth among the nine schools in the conference while the boys were sixth. Gilbert won the team championship for the girls while North Polk claimed first for the boys.

Megan Durbin brought home gold medals in the 100- and 200-meter races, as did Max Neese for the boys. Durbin was also first in the high jump and Kenna Marquardt won the discus. Daric Whipple was first in the 400-meter hurdles and the boys 4×400-meter relay struck gold.

Comet Invitational: GC girls ended the evening in fourth place among six schools. The boys finished fifth. North Polk claimed titles for both girls and boys.

Gold medal events for the Rams were Kenna Marquardt in the discus; Megan Durbin, high jump; Janelle Brophy, long jump; Max Neese, 100- and 200-meter dashes; Daric Whipple, 400-meter hurdles; shuttle hurdle relay: Whipple, Chase Stoline, Logan Lansman, Tyler Beger; 4×100 relay: Neese, Stoline, Lansman, Whipple.
