The Greene County Democrats are hosting a fundraiser for Kim Weaver on Saturday, May 14, at 1:30 pm at the Uptown Café in Jefferson. Pie and beverages will be served.

Weaver is running for Congress in the 4th District, the seat now held by Republican Steve King.

Chuck Offenburger, the former Des Moines Register columnist who lives in Cooper, will interview the candidate, and there will be time for audience questions, as well as a small dessert auction. Cost of the event is $7, with all proceeds donated to Weaver’s campaign.

Weaver believes that the people of Iowa’s 4th District need a new voice in Congress. She was born in Des Moines and graduated from Roosevelt High School and Iowa State University.  She now lives in Sheldon.

In 2007 she began work in the office of the state long-term care ombudsman, where she is an advocate for seniors in nursing homes, assisted living programs, and residential care facilities. As ombudsman, she covers a large territory in northwest Iowa that includes 15 counties and 124 care providers. There she advocates for the health, safety, and rights of individuals residing in long-term care facilities.

Weaver would like to advocate for all in the 4th district. More information on Weaver and her campaign can be found at www.weaverforcongress.com.
