Kindergarten health clinic is next week

Parents of children entering pre-kindergarten or kindergarten next August are reminded of the kindergarten health clinic Wednesday, May 4. Appointments are available from 1:30 to 5:30 pm at Greene County Elementary School. A parent should attend with his or her child. The clinic visit will take about one hour.

Vision, dental, hearing and lead risk screening will be available, as well as a hemoglobin test and immunizations (if needed). Blood pressure and height/weight will also be measured. “This is a great way to get many of your student’s requirements for kindergarten completed at one time,” a school spokesperson said.

The examinations are screenings only, aimed at identifying potential problems to determine if further examination by the family’s regular health care provider is needed. Donations will be accepted to help cover the cost of supplies used at the clinic.

Persons who want more information or to make an appointment can contact school nurse Mary Pedersen RN, BSN, or an elementary school secretary at 515-386-3178.
