Greene County district court, week ending April 22

In Greene County district court Teisha Ann Thomas, 22, of Vail was granted a deferred judgment after she changed her plea to guilty to a charge of possession of marijuana-first offense. She was placed on informal probation for one year. She must undergo a substance abuse evaluation and complete any recommended treatment at her own expense. A judgment was entered for a $315 civil penalty with a $125 Law Enforcement Initiative (LEI) surcharge, an $10 drug abuse resistance education (DARE) surcharge and $100 court costs. The court determined Thomas is unable to pay $180 in court appointed attorney’s fees.

A companion case against Thomas in magistrate court, in which she was charged with possession of drug paraphernalia, was dismissed. A judgment was entered for $60 court costs. (Sentencing: Honorable Adria A. Kester)

Persons pleaded not guilty at arraignments as follows: Craig Darwin Presley, 55 of Jefferson, driving while license revoked; Atem Akuei Malual, 33, of Gymor, OK, operating while intoxicated- first offense; and Nickalos Andrew Brown, 20, of Jefferson, possession of marijuana-first offense. . Trial dates were set for June 21 in every case.

Information is available since the return of an arrest warrant that James Harold Doran, 48, of Paton has been charged with assault causing bodily injury.

Information is available since the return of an arrest warrant that Michael David Teeples, 22, of Jefferson has been charged with distributing a drug near a school and failure to affix a tax stamp.

A case was initiated in district court against Kaleb Lee Lentz, 21, of Scranton. He is charged with driving while license barred.
