Greene County magistrate court, week ending April 15

In Greene County magistrate court a judgment was entered April 13 against Suez Ann Smith of Lake City on charges of interference with official acts and assault (amended from domestic abuse-assault. On the interference charge, she was fined $65 with a 22.75 surcharge. On the assault charge, Smith was fined $100 with a $35 surcharge. A charge of public intoxication was dismissed.

A judgment for a $65 fine with a $22.75 surcharge was entered against Richard Dean Tuhn Jr of Grand Junction on a charge of harassment-third degree. Tuhn was originally charged with 100 counts of harassment-third degree and violation of a no contact order. Court costs were $135.22.

Matthew Lee Hurley of Jefferson was fined $250 on a charge of driving while license suspended and $100 on a charge of trespass. Surcharges totaled $122.50; court costs were $120.

Edward Eugene Goff of Ames was sentenced to time served on a charge of public intoxication. Sheriff’s fees were $48 and court costs were $60. A charge of interference with official acts was dismissed.

John William Haygood of Jefferson was sentenced to time served on a charge of public intoxication. Sheriff’s fees were $48 and court costs were $60. A charge of disorderly conduct was dismissed.

Cases were initiated in magistrate court during the week ending as follows: Jody Lynn Schad of Jefferson, theft-fifth degree.

Persons paid fines for scheduled traffic violations during the week ending April 15 as follows: Christena Kaye McFarland of Rockwell City, dark window/windshield, $50; Cassidy Jo Stork of Carroll, failure to carry registration card, $20; and Jack Miles Schilling of Jefferson, operation without registration, $50.

Also, speed, $80 (11-15 mph over limit): Lowell Kenneth Roethler of Algona.

Speed, $40 (6-10 over): *Benjamin Gerard O’Neill of West Des Moines, Nicole Sarah Jenison of Fort Dodge, *Goldie Jean Mumper of Dayton, Nicole Marie Hoffmann of Carroll, and Paul Rex Voegtlin of Earlham.

Speed, $20 (1-5 over): Elizabeth Clausen Marburger of Perry, Brenna Carol Christensen of Audubon, Urayoan Diaz Pacheco and James William North, both of Jefferson, Kathleen Deloris Rose and Marilyn Elaine Parker, both of Churdan, Matthew Gerard Gehling of Carroll, Heather Jo Fritz of Grimes, and Zachary Trent Claassen of Boone.

Commercial motor vehicle violations: Brian Dean Balster of Platte, SD, no fire extinguisher, $50; Matthew Joel Lau of Grimes, insufficient number of tie downs, $50; and Thomas Arthur Safley of Jefferson, maximum group axle weight violation, $22.

Judgments were entered against individuals for nonpayment of scheduled fines as follows (original fine listed): David Dale Rice of Churdan, speed, $110; Rebecca Dawn Rennze of Carroll, operation of motor vehicle with expired license, $50; Kimberly Ann Hill of Jefferson, failure to provide proof of financial liability, $250, and no valid driver’s license, $200;

The judgment includes a penalty of one-half the original fine and surcharge.

Court costs were $60 on each citation unless otherwise noted.
