The 5K run/walk has become a family affair for Kate Neese and her daughter Emily and son Max shown here at the 2015 event. When asked why the Neese family is preparing to participate for the third year in a row, Kate answered, “We have always stressed being healthy and active as a family. Now that the kids are older, this is something we can enjoy together.”

Part of what makes this 5K unique is having the option of getting covered with bursts of color at stations along the route. Each station will represent different colors of cancer. Not only is it fun, it is educational. There will be informational placards posted along the way which highlight facts about the progress being made to fight this disease. Registration is limited; only the first 300 registrants will be allowed to participate in this popular event.

The registration fee includes a special T-shirt, color along the route, and a meal ticket. Best efforts will be made to hold the event rain or shine, so plan on joining in.  The 5K “Color Out Cancer” run/walk is a unique opportunity to do something healthy for you and others by raising awareness in the fight against cancer.

All registrations postmarked prior to April 15 will receive a $5 discount.  On or before April 15 (postmarked on 4/15) registration is $20 for persons 13 years or older and $10 for persons 12 years & younger. After April 16, add $5 to each registration. Registration forms can also be dropped off at the Greene County Community Center in Jefferson. Checks should be payable to the American Cancer Society.

Registration forms are available at the Community Center, on Facebook at www.facebook.com/relayforlifeofgreeneco or on the Relay website at www.relayforlife.org/greenecountyia
