‘Making ends meet’ is topic of Extension program

Area residents who want to learn skills to help meet their financial goals for 2016 are invited to a two-week program hosted by Iowa Extension and Outreach, “Your Money, Your Future: Making Ends Meet.”

Carol Ehlers, ISU family finance specialist, will help participants learn to get more for their money; save for financial goals; have money available for emergencies; develop a plan for saving and spending; choose a financial institution; use financial accounts wisely; prevent overdrafts; get more information about electronic banking; get free copies of their credit score; learn ways to improve their credit score; avoid predatory spending; and PowerPay their way out of debt.

Sessions will meet Mondays,  Feb. 29 and March 7, from 5:30 to 7 pm at the Greene County Early Learning Center, 204 W. Madison St in Jefferson.

A free, light meal and day care will be provided. The series is sponsored by Peoples Trust & Savings Bank and Home State Bank.

Participants should call the Greene County Extension office at 515-386-2138 to register before Feb. 25.
