Three Rams advance to District wrestling meet

Greene County High School will have three wrestlers battling for spots at the Class 2A State Tournament next week. Kane Borgeson, Tommy Bradshaw and Isaiah Yoder all advanced after finishing second in their respective weight classes at the Class 2A Sectional 16 meet held in Perry Feb. 6.

Webster City will host the Class 2A District 8 meet at noon on Saturday, Feb. 13. Only the first and second place winners from the two sectionals will compete. Saturday’s first and second place wrestlers will take the mat at Wells Fargo arena on Thursday.

Bradshaw suffered his first defeat of the season in the sectional finals when Race Brant of Woodward-Granger flipped him to his back for the fall at the 4:39 mark.

Saturday opponents at the District 8 meet are:

  • 113 – Kane Borgeson, 17-17, vs Justin Portillo, Clarion-Goldfield-Dows, 31-2
  • 152 – Tommy Bradshaw, 37-1, vs Zane Williams, Webster City, 26-16
  • 160 – Isaiah Yoder, 36-15, vs Ryan Ferrari, Webster City, 31-7

Sectional Tournament, Feb. 6 in Perry

  • 113 – Kane Borgeson, (17-17) bye; defeated Eric Davis, Gil, 6-2; lost by major decision to Ty Turner, WG, 5-13, Second place
  • 132 – Cayden Gerdes (18-25) lost by fall to Cole Carman, WG, 3:06; bye, fifth place
  • 138 – Isaac Ireland (6-27)lost by fall to Jake Larimore, Gil, 2:33; bye; lost to Carter Fluckiger, SV, sixth place
  • 152 – Tommy Bradshaw (37-1) bye; won by fall over Troy Jahnke, Per, 2:38; lost by fall to Race Brant, WG, 4:39; won by fall over Russell Jennett, Gil, :34, second place
  • 160 – Isaiah Yoder (36-15) bye; defeated Austin Scharlau, WG, 8-3; lost to Kyler Jondle, SV, by major decision, 1-10; defeated Jared Rotert, KC, 7-4, second place
  • 170 – Mark Kendall lost to Aaron Sperling, WG, 1-3; bye; defeated Noah Ante, Gil, 21-7, fifth place
