Destival tells goals for city golf course

Jefferson Community Golf Course newFirst tournament just 72 days away

On a blustery cold winter night Micah Destival, returning manager of the city-owned Jefferson Community Golf Course, had good news – the first golf tournament of the 2016 season is just 72 days away.

Destival updated the city council on his goals and plans for the golf course. He said his goal is to increase by 10 to 15 the number of season pass holders, To help meet the goal, the city has added a special season pass rate for golfers age 35 and younger and will offer a one-year 50 percent discount for new memberships. Destival said he plans to replace the windows on the lower level (Pro Shop) at the clubhouse and to do some updating of the golf cart sheds.

He has targeted April 28 or May 5 as the start of league play.

Following his update, the council approved hiring Destival for a 10-month 2016 season at a wage of $3,848 per month.
