Main Street gathers shopping flash mob

Main Street’s promotion committee is leading a new promotion called a cash mob in February. The committee has named it “Who Loves Ya, Baby?”

On Saturday, Feb. 13, at 10:30 am people in the community will meet at the Main Street Office at 110 W. Lincoln Way in Jefferson to draw out of a hat the name of one Main Street retail business.

Then these “economic activists” “mob” that business, vowing to spend at least $20 each.  The group will then head to Uptown Cafe to have lunch together. The receipts from the mob shopping will be gathered and one will be drawn, with that shopper to receive a $25 gift certificate to the Sierra Community Theater.

People of all ages are welcome to be involved. The goal is to have 36 participants so the impact could be up to $720 on a Saturday morning in February. J

The Jefferson Matters: Main Street promotions committee hopes this mobbed business will feel the love and appreciation from the community. These cash mobs have proven to be successful and fun in other Main Street communities.

Jefferson Matters: Main Street’s promotion committee is Deb McGinn, Amy Roberts, Dianne Piepel, Margaret Hamilton, Lynda Cochran and Shirley Stapleton.
