An essay written by Greene County fifth grader Isabella Schroeder on the topic of “What the Flag Means to Me” placed third in the Iowa American Legion’s eighth district, which includes 14 counties.
Isabella qualified for the district competition by placing first in the local contest. She was presented with a certificate and a check from the district for $10 by Zanda Maldonado (left) and Don Ihnken (right) of American Legion Floyd Brown Post 11.
