News in and around Rippey: Gary and Mary Weaver traveled to the home of their daughter and her family in Sioux City on Christmas morning. They were delayed due to weather concerns on Christmas Eve day. They were joined for Christmas dinner by David, Emily, and  Ada Weaver. They returned home on Christmas Day evening. On New Year’s Day, Gary and Mary Weaver hosted Dean, Ellen, and Kathy Weaver of Boone for the Rose Bowl game viewing at their home near Rippey. They were joined by David, Emily, and Ada for an evening meal after they returned from a belated Christmas family time with her sister and her family in  Coralville.

Ben and Midge Vannatta had as guests in their home Louis Vannatta and his daughter and son, Andrea and Adam of Crystal Lake, IL. They came on Wednesday. Friday evening was the Vannatta Christmas at Pete and Jeannie Kottra’s home in Ankeny. Others attending were Teresa and Bryan Mowrer, Guthrie Center, Kyle and  Jamie Mowrer and children of Rippey, and Steve and Beth Radhurt and children of Osage.  A soup supper was enjoyed by all and a gift exchange. Taking pictures, games and their dog Jac and cat furnished entertainment. Louis, Adam and Andrea left for home on Saturday.

Jason, Allison, Levi, Kate, and Chase Bardole drove from Wisconsin on Dec. 18 to spend a little time with Roy and Phyllis Bardole. On Saturday morning others started arriving. Pete, Yvette, Arthur, Avery and Aden Bardole of Jefferson; Tim, Lori, Cassie, and Gabe Bardole of Rippey; and Schyler and Lauren Bardole of Churdan. This Christmas was only going to last six hours and after opening presents, pizza was ordered and snacked and visited the rest of the time. Pete and Yvette had tickets to see a show in Des Moines, and Tim, Lori and family went to the church to have their Christmas with the Roberts’ family. It was a fun day and the weather was great. Jason and Allison and family left Sunday  morning to get back to Wisconsin. The kids still had school and Jason and Allison had to work.  It is always good to get together.
