Friends of Rippey breakfast Dec. 5: The Friends of Rippey will again provide a “Calendar Day” community breakfast on Saturday, Dec. 5, from 8 am to noon.  All are invited to attend. A free will offering/donation will be accepted.

Breakfast casserole, link sausage, fruit cup, cinnamon rolls, juice, milk, and coffee will be served.

Young people, and those young at heart, will be able to create a “make and take” Christmas craft. The grand finale will be the arrival of Mr. and Mrs. Santa Claus riding in on the Rippey fire truck at 10 am.

Three raffle drawings will be available. Tickets are $1 each or 6 for $5.  The raffles are three meat bundles donated by David and Carol John, and Peoples Trust & Savings Bank of Rippey.  Raffle tickets are available now from members of the Friends of Rippey. Individuals do not have to be present to win the raffle.

This is a project of the Friends of Rippey to enrich the community.

News in and around Rippey: Jean Borgeson visited with Jack and Dixie Slight in Perry and shared supper with them on Tuesday, Nov. 17. Their anniversary was last weekend and all their children and most of the grandchildren were able to be home to help them celebrate.

Dixie and Jean attended the second grade program, as they both had grandsons performing.  This year’s program was NUTS! by John Jacobson and John Higgins and was directed by Shaylena Bell and Devin Schroeder. The theme was about the life cycle of a nut. The kids enjoyed the fun songs and actions, but probably the favorite song was, Big Bad Squirrels! It was a crowd pleaser!

Phil and Toni Roberts spent an enjoyable evening at the Hy-Vee Market Cafe with their son Matthew on Thursday, Nov. 19th. It was a belated celebration for Matt’s 45th birthday. They all agreed how nice it was to have a selection of eating places to choose from in Jefferson.
