Jefferson Matters: Main Street used a Paint Iowa Beautiful grant to paint three building facades in Jefferson’s historic downtown district.

Buildings at 100, 200 and 202 E State St were painted with Diamond Vogel Paint received through the paint grant through the Keep Iowa Beautiful program. Design committee chairperson Deb Kucerak wrote the grant application.

The window openings at 100 E. State St. (Angie’s Tea Garden) were painted black to give the illusion of windows. This was recommended by Tim Reinders, design consultant for Main Street Iowa. The facades of 200 and 202 E. State St (Lawton Family Chiropractic) were painted white to give a fresh look.

The painters, Chris Heisterkamp, Susan Fray and Deb Kucerak, are all involved on the design committee of Jefferson Matters: Main Street. Collectively, the three volunteers clocked approximately 60 hours to complete these three projects.
