Rotary auction nets another $30,000 for community projects

The Jefferson Rotary Club’s 17th annual benefit auction Friday evening raised about $30,000 that will be used to fund a wide variety of local projects through a grant process. More than 160 persons attended the steak dinner served by the local Does Drove at the Elks lodge in Jefferson.

The  live auction featured an even 100 items including dinner packages, plenty of Iowa State and Iowa items, family outings, items or gift cards from many Greene County businesses, and even vacation packages at The Galleon Resort & Marina Key West and the Royal Mauian on Maui.

The theme for the evening was “Celebrate Greene County.” The theme was carried out not only in many auction packages, but in the table decorations, as well. Greene County libraries collaborated on the centerpieces that featured maps from around the county and the Mahanay Memorial Carillon Tower, arguably the county’s most well-known attraction.

Watch for information at the Rotary Club’s 2016 grant cycle. The date for the 18th annual benefit auction is set for Nov. 11, 2016.
